Let’s Read “The Book Thief”

Hello fellow lover of books! You guys spoke and I listened. So, we’re going to start a book club. If you’re not familiar with said voice that I am referring to, I’ll link the blog post HERE. There were a whopping 12 of you guys who are down to read a book together!! How cool is that? Anywho, after stalking the interweb, I’ve decided to select ‘The Book Thief,‘ as our first book club selection.

But Sug, what is it about? This is what Google and nem had to say about ‘The Book Thief.’

is just a small story really, about among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. . . .

Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak’s groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement before he is marched to Dachau.

Sounds pretty yummy, huh? I know. *pats self of the back*

Anywho, I’ll have a forum on here, so we can discuss the book!! Woo Hoo!  I’m stupid excited.

You’ll have to register for the forum, but it’s really simple. Once I get everything configured, I’ll let you guys know. I’ll open up the forum on the 1st of March (so you can register and we can work out any kinks) and we’ll start reading on the 4th of March. You have 4 weeks to get your book.
