MERRY CHRISTMAS (or whatever your get down is)!!!!
So here it is Christmas day and the person who loves to talk has lost her voice. I’m sooooo sad. You know something profound is going to be said to me and I’m not going to be able to verbally respond. And my hair is matted bullet proof mat. My mama bought me a coat with a hood for Christmas! Yeah!
Day 9
You know this time last week. I was crazy!
I’m getting used to my new look!
17 Dec 04
It’s a been a whole two weeks. And I’m still loving it. I look sooo different. I’m wondering if I even had hair. I can’t seem to remember it. I have found myself looking at old picture of myself. Not longing or with regret but just in amazement with how different I look. You know I left home one way two weeks ago and I came home another way. How does one forget what one looks like. I’ve found that for a lot of people they will pick a feature and nurse it. Mine was my hair. I had these proverbial strikes against me but I was like at least I got hair! I have turned into the bald headed chick...and I love it. You know if someone made a comment about my hair being short. I wouldn’t even say anything. The thought of saying. You know I used to have hair and pull out a photo album discuss me.

Why do I look like this?
I love animals. My favorite animal is an alpaca. I'm not sure what sound they make...but I will tell you what sound a dog makes! Help me Lawd my neighbor's dog barks like a momofo. The dog is an instant attitude conversation adjuster! Middle Finger to them for having him chained to the fence (most of the time). :(
I will talk to him/her whenever he/she is on their deck. S/He shuts the hell up!
Anyway, I was on my way to work and then to campus to visit my former professors and to meet the first year students and talk to the second year students. =D I can't wait!
Only if you count that first set that lasted about a day and a half. Well for the sake of Pete let us not count those. So this will be my second set of locs!! :)
I know many of you probably think I am all kind of polar-ish with regard to my hair. I must say that I have had a plethora of hair styles, I get bored easily, I like change (often), and blah blah blah.
So, why am I locing my hair again?
Well when you know, you know. Plus, I'm sick of doing my loose hair. That mess is not for me. *said with lots of love*
I learned a lot about locs with my first set. I made a lot of mistakes and I don't plan on making them this time around. I think my locs will be more healthy (and less skinny as hell).
Well, here they are! My new chirrens!

1. I did them myself.
It took me about 4 hours. I was trying
to watch the democratic national convention. I had to use two mirrors
and one mirror was cracked in half and the other half had been thrown away!
Adversity? ha!
1.A. I tried to part them as even/straight as I could. My other set was pretty straight too.
1.B. The top section is still the red head step child (no offense to red heads)! OMG! It took me forever to finish that section. :(
2. These are a lot bigger. I have 104 v/s nearly 200. So, I am the mother of centuryquadruplets! *Webster would not approve*
3. I'm starting with longer hair this time. Although I had a hair cut over there (on the other page). I still had a bunch hair (about 7 inches on top, 4-5 inches towards the back, and bout 1.5-3 inches at the bottom. I started with .5 to an inch of hair with my first set.
PLEASE PEOPLE WASH YOUR HAIR! Don't let them tell you that you can't wash your hair.
They was itching so I washed them! They held up nicely. I just separated some of them & twirled them around my finger. No clips.
Let me introduce you to my head wrap. I plan on wearing my hair wrapped for the majority of my new loced time. I plan on wearing my hair like this...even to work *side eye*. I also plan on not telling many that I am locing. I am terribly humble I tell ya. Plus I'm in no mood for unsolicited loc advice.

*Speaking of unsolicited* Let me tell you how folk kills me. When I had a big ol fro, people had a lot to say. Read: Angela Davis, Black power, soul sista type comments. Now that I have the wrap people still have a lot to say. Read: Hey Ms. Badu (followed by singing one of her songs), Dag, you must have really long locs, Can you start my locs? Mind you my hair is covered and no one knows what my hair looks like under my wrap.

Don't they look juicy? I want my locs to be bigger than my last set. I think they will condense some. They look extra thickalicious because my hair is trying to get its fro on.
Le Head Wrap Part Deux!
You too can wrap your head with 3 yards of fabric and the help from a youtube tutorial! This fabric ^ is not the best fabric to use because it doesn't have any stretch whatsoever.

Wash and retwist!! I know I said I wasn't going to over do it but when I washed it needed to be "done."

So I curled my locs (only to see what I look like...when I get called for another interview). I think it's too cayute!
Same ol curls I just knotted them up.
29 Sept 08
I rolled them and let them stay over night. I didn't let them dry all the way before I took them out (I see nothing has changed), but they were dry enough. I didn't want to sit under a hair dryer.

I wont even comment on how this woman in the library commented on how cute and neat my hair was. She asked how I got my hair like that. I told her I was locing and she seemed confused. Did I mention that she had a fro? She couldn't figure out how they grew out of my scalp all separated. *shrugs*
You know what? Sometimes my hair doesn't look like locs. *shrugs* It's only been a month.
Anywho, I came home and washed my hair and re-twisted them. I am careful not to over twist and I don't do it tight especially around the front.

Day 1 1 Month later
The Next Day...
They're not as fluffy because I covered them with a scarf.
