Banding: To apply cloth covered elastic
bands to sectioned hair. Banging helps to stretch your hair with out
the use of heat.

Big Ass Afro
Big Chop/Cut: The moment you say to
to hell
with your processed hair and cut it all off! Revealing your natural
beautiful self!
Creamy Crack: Slang for relaxer or perm. A
term used to describe the cycle and addiction associated with trying to
maintain straight hair. “As soon as I saw some new growth I had to get
me a hit of that creamy crack!"
H.I.F.D.: Short for Hand In Fro Disease
this conditions is marked by constant touching of the fro
(See photo below). People with locs also suffer from this
condition. It's called H.I.L.D.
Locs:
Also known as dreads, dread locks, locks. The process by
which the hair mattes. There are several types of locs:
sister locs, free form locs, traditional locs, braid locs, coil
locs, twist locs. My locs were started with coils and two
strand twists.
Locks of Love: An organization in which you
can donate your hair in order to make wigs and hair pieces for those who
have lost their own hair because of medical reasons.

Napdar: Being able to since when a fellow
nappy headed person is in the area.
Nopoo: To discontinue the use of shampoo to
cleanse your hair. Clarifying rinses or clarifying conditioners are
used instead.
Slippage: When your hair is detangled and
is easy to comb conditioners make slippage possible.
Texturizer: A relaxer that is placed on
natural hair to loosen your natural curl. Texturizers are not natural.
Texturizers are weak relaxers but they still permanently relax your
hair.
TWA: Short for Teeny Weeny Afro. Those who
don’t transition and decide to instead do the big chop end up with a
little bitty afro!!
